    Women's Christian Fellowship Choir
    September, 2011.
Beds, beds, beds – we still need beds! Choir
On Friday the 30th of September the Women’s Christian Fellowship choir from St Matthews Church in Lusaka, Zambia will arrive in the Vale Circuit. This will be the start of a three week stay in the UK involving visits to Llandudno, Newtown, Woking and Reading before they fly home on Wednesday the 20th of October. This is going to be a significant event in the life of the circuit and it’s a visit that is going to create special memories for all involved. All sorts of hopes are bound up in a journey like this – hopes for the weather, that all sorts of arrangements will work well, that our guests will enjoy what for most will be their first trip outside Zambia. On the other side of the equator there will be a different collection of hopes at which we can only guess. From our first handshake of welcome to our final wave of farewell we will all have gone on a journey involving not just moving from one place to another, but involving befriending strangers, opening our homes, altering the well-worn path of our daily lives. This means striking out beyond our comfort zones of course, but will ultimately be a rewarding and life-enhancing experience. The itinerary for the group is as follows: Friday 30th September Arrive by coach from Heathrow mid-afternoon Friday 7th October Leave for Llandudno in the morning Monday 10th October Travel from Llandudno to Newtown, Powys Tuesday 11th October Either: transfer from Newtown back to the Vale, OR from Newtown to Reading Friday 14th October Either: transfer from the Vale to Woking, OR from Reading to Woking Tuesday 19th October Go to Heathrow late evening for flight in the early morning of Wednesday 20th Here is the itinerary for the visit to the Vale During their stay in the Vale Circuit the choir has a full programme of activities. If you want to hear the choir come to the Gathering Place, St Athan on Sunday the 2nd of October at 6pm. There will be a further concert on their return from North Wales, probably on Wednesday the 12th October in Trinity, Penarth. These Zambian women will be taking the road less travelled when they visit us, and I for one look forward to meeting them on the way. If you can get involved please contact Dorothy Connell 01446 744914 07982319456 dot.connell@virgin.net

    Musical in a Day
    15 May, 2010.
There will be a "musical in a day" on Saturday the 15th of May in Dinas Powys Methodist church. The day will start at 12 with soup and roll and will end with a performance at 6pm (over by 7pm, not 8 as previously intimated). The musical is “David”, and is straightforward and fun – nothing complicated at all! Annie Routley will be leading the day and is very experienced. There will be soloists coming with Annie, but we will also need small solo parts to be filled on the day. We also need a narrator and a Goliath (non-singing part). The charge for the day will be £6, £5 if you don’t have lunch. Please bring something for tea. We will need singers and instrumentalists. Instrumentalists can have the music before the day, and can dip in and out – ie sing some songs, play in others. Annie will be using backing tracks, so we will not be dependent on instruments – instruments will be supplementing the backing (I’ll be dusting off my flute for the slow and easy bits). For more information please use the contact page and select 'David the Musical'.
